Shadowland creates theatre that is expressive in style, highly imaginative in concept, and spectacular in execution. Masks, puppetry, stilts, live music, fire, and evocative visual imagery draw audiences into worlds where stories unfold and dreams are unravelled.
What We Do
Who We Are
While Shadowland Theatre is privileged to work in many communities across Turtle Island, we offer our acknowledgement of the land on which our home base resides, Toronto Island.
Before all else, in respect to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action. We want to acknowledge this sacred land on which we live. Today, the meeting place of Toronto is the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to live and work on this territory.
We would like to begin by acknowledging the land on which we gather is part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit.
It has been a site of human activity for 15,000 years. This land was previously occupied by the Huron-Wendat and Petun First Nations and the Seneca.
We acknowledge the many covenants that have subsequently been broken, the need to strive to make right with all our relations, and to respond directly to the Calls to Action.
