Heads Above Water – Ward’s Island Fire Parade
The spring flooding that almost submerged our Toronto Island sandbar gave rise to a story of threats to earth, air and WATER, and celebrated communities pulling together in hard times. Large-scale puppetry, fire artistry, and a shadow play culminated in a lantern-lit parade that wound its way to the erstwhile beach. There, a giant glowing heart held steadfast in the crashing waves, as the moon shone down on us all.
